GlowInto X Social Pour : How Shannan Williams turned a leap of faith into a bright new gathering place in downtown Mascoutah

A Woman-Owned Story of Reinvention

I was in downtown Mascoutah getting ready to start an interview with Kim from Paper Moon when a little shop nearby caught my eye.

I saw the words loaded teas, and since I love loaded teas, I had to step inside.

That is how I found The Social Pour.

The shop had only been open about a week, but it already had the kind of energy that makes you want to stay for a minute. The space felt clean, bright, and upbeat. It was the kind of place where someone could grab a drink on the go, sit quietly for a few minutes, or meet a friend and let the day slow down a little.

I was excited to learn that The Social Pour offers low-sugar options, unique flavors, loaded teas, beauty teas, protein teas, and protein shakes. For anyone who enjoys an energy drink but wants something a little different, it feels like a fresh new addition to downtown Mascoutah.

But what drew me in even more was the story behind it.

For owner Shannan Williams, The Social Pour began with a visit to her sister in Iowa.

While she was there, her sister introduced her to nutrition shops that specialized in loaded teas and protein shakes. Many of the drinks were focused on lower-sugar options and felt fun, colorful, and energizing while still leaning toward the healthier side.

Shannan loved the concept and came home wanting to find something similar nearby.

The closest option was about an hour away in St. Louis.

So the idea stayed with her.

When the opportunity came to open a space in Mascoutah, Shannan was in between jobs and ready for something different. Her background was not in owning a drink shop. She had worked in logistics, including 10 years in the military, and had lived in different places around the world before eventually landing near Scott Air Force Base.

Opening The Social Pour meant stepping into unfamiliar territory.

“Personally, this new chapter represents taking a big leap of faith,” Shannan said. “Transitioning from my background in the military and corporate business into building a storefront from the ground up has been a massive shift.”

That is what makes her story feel so connected to GlowInto.

It is not only about opening a shop. It is about recognizing a new possibility in the middle of a changing season. It is about trusting the timing, learning something new, and being willing to begin again in a completely different way.

This chapter is also deeply personal because she is building the business with her son working right alongside her.

“What makes this chapter truly special is that I get to build it with my son working right alongside me,” she said. “It’s about proving that you can always reinvent yourself, take ownership of your career, and build a meaningful business together as a family.”

So many women reach a point where they wonder if it is too late to change direction, start over, build something new, or take ownership of what comes next. Shannan’s story is a reminder that reinvention does not always come with a perfect plan. Sometimes it starts with an idea you cannot let go of, a door that opens, and the courage to walk through it.

The Social Pour offers original loaded teas, beauty loaded teas, protein loaded teas, and protein shakes. The loaded teas are made with a tea base, energy, and sugar-free flavor powders. Beauty teas include collagen, while protein teas include protein and collagen.

For anyone who has never tried loaded teas or beauty teas before, Shannan describes them as a cleaner alternative to standard energy drinks, with a focus on hydration, sustained energy, and mental focus.

Her personal favorites are Blue Wave, from the original loaded tea list, and Glow Pop, one of the beauty teas that includes collagen.

The menu also includes caffeine-free and sugar-free kids’ drinks, along with a wide variety of bright, fun flavors. It is the kind of menu that makes you want to try something new each time you stop in.

While the drinks bring people through the door, Shannan is also thinking about how people feel once they are inside.

“I just want people to feel comfortable and get an immediate lift in their energy when they walk in,” she said. “Life is hectic, so I wanted to build a clean, upbeat space where you can take a quick break. Whether you're coming in to unwind alone or hanging out with friends, I just want you to leave in a better mood.”

That kind of intention matters.

When we support women-owned businesses, we are not only supporting what is sold across the counter. We are supporting the decision to take a risk. We are supporting the months of planning no one saw, the learning curve, the family members helping behind the scenes, and the hope that a community will show up.

For Shannan, that support has already made the first week feel meaningful.

“Honestly, it’s been incredibly humbling,” she said. “You spend months planning and setting everything up, so actually seeing people walk through the door and support us all week has been amazing. The energy from the community has been great, and it’s just really validating to see it all come to life.”

That community connection is something she hopes to continue building.

Right now, Shannan is focused on getting the daily routine down, but future plans are already taking shape. One of the next steps is setting up a dedicated delivery service to Scott Air Force Base, making it easier for people who cannot easily slip away from work to enjoy the drinks.

She is also open to collaborations, community events, and hosting local pop-ups with nearby businesses and creators.

“We really want The Social Pour to be a true community hub that brings people together,” Shannon said.

That is part of what makes a place like this feel important.

A small shop gives people another reason to walk through downtown, stop in somewhere new, start a conversation, and connect with the person behind the business. It adds energy to a street. It creates gathering space. It gives people somewhere to pause, even if only for the few minutes it takes to enjoy a drink.

The Social Pour is still new to downtown Mascoutah, but the heart behind it is already clear.

It is a place to stop in, sip something bright, support a woman-owned business, and be reminded that starting over, starting fresh, or starting something completely new is still possible.

The Social Pour Mascoutah is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and closed on Sundays.
